We are encouraged with the extent to which we have been able to impact the mind set of our students both present and past entrepreneurially and it is our pleasure to share some of our success stories.
1. Isola Precious represented the University at national and international levels. He won the first position at the 2021 National Enterprise Challenge based on his e-learning platform which facilitates student preparation for matriculation examinations.
2. Ifeoluwa Olatayo the CEO of Soupah Kitchen has been able to leverage on her ideas and the opportunities she was exposed to and today, she was exposed to series of trainings after which she was linked to mentors and was able to make quality networks, which had positive impacts on her entrepreneurial intention.
3. GreenBunny, a social enterprise owned by a team of four student entrepreneurs – Ogunbule Adebayo, Gbore Damilola, Abdulafees Hamzat and Bakare Omolara came third in the 2020 African Research University Alliance (ARUA) competition held at University of Lagos.
4. Oyewale Abioye represented the University at Netherlands where he received training alongside a group of like-minded youth and he has been positively transforming the agriculture industry specifically the area of dairy farm products.
5. Oduola Habeeb is the founder of Habibi Integrated Farms with capacity of 1000 broiler birds for production of white meat.
6. Adeyeye Emmanuel Oluwatunmininu designed an artificial intelligence BOT system in the reduction of waiting time in healthcare facilities, improvement of healthcare services and workflow line.
7. Participation in GIZ Make IT in Africa Start up Connect week in Berlin: The Centre presented 3 student statups, Medherence, Slim Re- Biopsy and Connect Care, GIZ Make IT in Africa and Co-Creation Hub (CCHub).
8. Medherence, one of our student startups which was co-founded by two University of Ibadan medical students, Nwata Chidinma and Olayiwola Olaitan, was accepted into Microsoft for start-ups. Medherence was accepted based on its vision and impact on people with chronic diseases in Nigeria. The students will benefit in the use of Microsoft product development licenses worth more than $10,000 for free and grants them access to seasoned mentors from Microsoft.
9. The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) invited Victor Durosaro, an Electrical Engineering student to participate in Phase 3 of the Japan-funded Training Programme on “Development Essential Skills for Women and Youth in Africa: Enhancing Employment Opportunities and Livelihood Development in the Digital Economy” held in Kenya. The invitation was based on his innovative project that centers on revolutionizing agriculture in Nigeria through a Smart Irrigation System designed to overcome challenges posed by climate change-induced unpredictable rainfall patterns.
10. Hosting of boot camp for University of Ibadan students in conjunction with De Montfort Universtiy, Leicester.
11. Akintekun Grace Abiodun participated in the National Enterprise Challenge organized by Directors of Entrepreneurship Centres in the South West Nigerian Universities and her agribusiness mobile application, emerged as one of the top 10 innovations.
12. Dansu Emmanuel Oluwaseun makes and sells all types of footwares.
13. Establishment of UI.CEI startup community cum Entrepreneurship club, for the University undergraduate students from 200 level upward to foster strong entrepreneurial mindset and discovery of raw talent in the students.
